EP25: Top Macro (& Mindset) Mistakes

Welcome to this morning’s iced coffee date! I’m so glad you’re here!

Let’s dive into macro and mindset!

This morning we’re talking about top macro (and mindset) mistakes and how to overcome them.

Mistake #1: Being obsessed with your macro goals

No matter how much you try, you’ll never be perfect at counting your macros. Being consistently good vs. occasionally perfect will set you up for success. Both in macros and in a sustainable mindset around nutrition.

Mistake #2: Letting your macros control you

If counting macros takes over your life, they aren’t working for you. Mentally planning for real-life variability to happen without letting macros control every decision is the sweet spot.

Mistake #3: Giving up if you don’t know how to track something

Even food labels can be off by 15-20% so perfection is never the goal. Guestimating your intake while dining out can at least help you focus on including enough important nutrients, such as protein and fiber.

Mistake #4: Not enjoying what you’re eating

You can only white-knuckle your way through eating boring food for so long. Enjoying what you eat is key for long-term success so put in the time and effort to make the food you love.

Mistake #5: Dieting for more than 3-4 months and not phasing your nutrition

Nutritional periodization is a must to keep your body healthy, mind happy, and metabolism functioning as it should. There is a season for fat loss, muscle gain, and most importantly maintenence. Learning how to use each phase effectively is key.
